How can we address the issue of cat overpopulation by encouraging responsible ownership?

The RSPCA, along with other cat welfare charities, has been running educational programmes and operational initiatives to encourage owners to neuter their cats for many years. Free neutering vouchers are provided via the RSPCA’s inspectorate and branches to those in need, of which redemption is currently at around 50 per cent.

How do we reduce childhood road traffic casualties by engaging parents as stakeholders in the issue?

Although significant improvements have been made to reduce child road casualties across the UK, rates in Lancashire remain relatively high in comparison. In response to this, Lancashire County Council commissioned our team to develop methods of improving child road safety, specifically through the parents of young children.

NHS Blackpool: Illicit tobacco

Now that we have increased awareness of illicit tobacco how can we trigger a normative shift?

Building on a pan-regional intervention developed by The Hub to raise awareness of the dangers of illicit tobacco, our team began to explore more direct approaches by piloting community-based interventions in Blackpool and Salford.

Social norms

Both the evidence base and our own direct experience showed that the sale, purchase and consumption of illicit tobacco are deeply ingrained behaviours, embedded in community culture and social norms.
