Do you want to ‘Change the World’?

In partnership with the University of Chester we are searching for a third-sector organisation to collaborate with up-and-coming creative talent on an exciting new behaviour change initiative.

The ‘Change the World’ project is designed to help a charity, social enterprise or community interest company benefit from a pro bono collaboration with advertising students. In return the partner organisation provides a brief for them to work on and experience of a live industry project.

Supported by the advertising programme team at the University and with input from Collaborative Change, the project team will focus on developing insight and recommendations to tackle a specific behaviour change issue.

As part of our commitment to open eyes and minds to the power of creativity to drive social change, working with the next generation of creative talent is a core aim. Following on from our ‘Design A Difference’ course, launched at this year’s D&AD Graduate Academy, we’re excited to be working with the University of Chester on this exciting new project. Not only will it allow real world behaviour change experience for the students involved, but it will also provide much needed support for a charitable or third-sector organisation during a time where budgets are being stretched to breaking point, and funding is uncertain.

As part of their BA degree course, students will work closely with one third-sector organisation to develop a practical solution to a real world social issue driven by negative behaviour(s). Understanding the importance of research in the development of a successful behaviour change intervention, students will work alongside their client and course leader to really get under the skin of the issue by beginning to understand behavioural drivers and how they can influence negative behaviours. Using this understanding, it will be the students’ job to put this insight to work in the development of an intervention which moves beyond awareness raising to achieve a specific behavioural objective.

Whilst this project marks an exciting milestone for the University, Chester has a long and well-established reputation for working with external clients (including Warrington Golden Square Shopping Centre, Warrington Primary Care Trust and Cheshire Fire & Rescue) all of whom have benefitted from their collaboration with the University and implemented recommendations arising from their time working with the team.
