Nudging Your Way to Reduced Rent Arrears

Behavioural insights and ‘Nudge’ techniques are being used extensively across government and the commercial sector. This approach has shown time and again how small, incremental changes can significantly increase revenue and reduce costs.

Nudging Your Way to Reduced Rent Arrears is the first ever large-scale project to investigate the application of behavioural insights within the social housing sector. Working in partnership with Capita and housing associations across the country we trialled small, low-cost changes that created up to:

  • 12% increase in payment rates
  • 24% increase in response rates
  • 37% increase in revenue

After 12 months, 9 randomised controlled trials and interactions with nearly 7000 tenants, we have distilled the key insights from this project into a highly practical 90-minute webinar.

Hosted by the project lead Steven Johnson FRSA, this session will give you an exclusive insight into the approach that produced these results and leave you with an arsenal of new ideas that are easy to implement and proven to increase revenue.

In 90 minutes you will discover:

  • The small, high impact changes you can make immediately to your recovery processes.
  • How a simple redesign of your arrears letters can generate significant increases in revenue.
  • The ‘Nudges’ that can prevent tenants from falling into arrears.
  • The basics of behavioural economics and the MINDSPACE framework
  • How to drive efficiencies and cut costs by optimizing your escalation pathway.
